Tap Scan a Recipe on the home screen, then point your camera at a cookbook page, printout, or card. The app reads the ingredients and turns them into an editable list. You can fix any line by tapping it.
Tap any ingredient row to correct the quantity, unit, or name. For best results, use good lighting, hold steady, and fill the frame with the ingredient list. Handwriting is harder than print — if a card is very faint, use Enter Manually.
Drag the slider or tap ½×, 1×, 2×, or 3×. Every quantity updates live and is rounded to kitchen-friendly fractions like "¾ cup" instead of "0.75 cup."
If you're baking in a different pan than the recipe calls for, tap By Pan, enter the original and target pan sizes, and the app calculates the exact multiplier from the surface-area ratio.
Give a recipe a name and it saves automatically to your on-device library. To delete one, open My Library, then swipe a recipe left or tap Edit.
Yes. Open any recipe and scroll to Notes and Photos to add tips, substitutions, or photos of the original card and the finished dish. Everything stays on your device.
Entirely on your iPhone. Scale That Recipe has no account, no cloud, and no servers. Nothing you scan or save is ever uploaded. See our Privacy Policy.
iPhones running iOS 18.1 or later. On the newest iPhones the app uses Apple Intelligence for sharper recipe parsing, automatically — older devices use a built-in parser instead.
